Having been part of the Cornish community for over 225 years, we try to give back as much as we can.
Each year, our staff pick a local charity that will receive our dedicated support. We raise money through our annual charity golf day, morning teas, cake sales and other assorted events including one brave staff member taking on a charity sky-dive in aid of the Cornwall Air Ambulance in 2017. Not only do we enjoy fundraising for worthwhile causes, as a team, we have an enormous amount of fun organising and participating in the various activities.
In 2018 our staff have chosen to support The Invictus Trust, a small charity which aims to support and offer services to local teenagers who are suffering from poor mental health and associated issues. The charity was set up in January 2010 and is dedicated to the memory of Ben Cowburn, a wonderfully vibrant young man whose struggle with mental health issues had tragic consequences. The Invictus Trust is named after the poem that inspired Ben, written by Ernest Henley and used by Nelson Mandela as a source of strength during his jail sentence on Robben Island.
Golf Day 2018
Our annual Charity Golf Day in aid of our nominated charity is now in its 9th year and is well supported by local businesses. This year’s event will be held at the Tehidy Park Golf Club on Thursday 24 May 2018.
The event runs on teams of four with a 3/4 handicap allowance and the best two scores to count. There are prizes for winning teams, closest to the pin and longest drive. Entry is £150.00 per team and this includes prizes, coffee and bacon roll on arrival and a two-course buffet after your round.
There are also opportunities to sponsor a hole for £25.00 per hole and we welcome donations from local businesses for prizes, raffle or auction.
If you would like to enter a team please contact Phil Weaver on 01209 714278 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
