Lee was born and raised in Truro and returned to Cornwall after completing an LLB degree in Law at Bournemouth University. Lee first joined Nalders in 2009, for a year-long work placement during his degree, and has been with the firm ever since. Lee is a Solicitor in our Business Department and specialises in corporate, commercial and employment law.
Experienced in dealing with a wide range of matters for both employers and employees, including drafting employment contracts and staff handbooks, representing employers and employees in the Employment Tribunal, and advising on disciplinary, performance and sickness absence issues.
Regularly deals with a variety of business matters and acts for individuals, partnerships and companies. Provides practical and clear advice on all aspects of a business, including: starting a business; business contracts; directors’ duties; advice on shareholder’s rights; intellectual property rights; confidentiality agreements; e-commerce; shareholders’ agreements; directors’ duties; insolvency, closing a limited company and liquidation; and internal and Companies House filing requirements.
Particularly interested in assisting charities. Experienced in advising on charity structures, the role of trustees, and ongoing charity administration. Recently helped several new and existing charities incorporate as Charitable Incorporated Organisations.
Lee has significant experience representing large employers and local SMEs, in all manner of industries. This includes defending employment tribunal claims and providing advice and assistance with internal issues, such as disciplinary and grievance matters.
From an employee perspective, Lee has represented claimants against all manner of respondents in the tribunal, including large national organisations, with great success. Lee has also helped numerous employees reach an agreed departure through advising on their Settlement Agreements.
Lee’s personal highlights include:
- Reaching a successful conclusion for an employee involved in claims of whistleblowing and constructive unfair dismissal.
- Successfully resolving a matter involving discrimination on the grounds of an employee’s sexual orientation.
- Achieving a positive outcome for an individual pursuing a claim of disability discrimination.
- Helping an employee to overturn their dismissal through an internal appeal and then negotiating terms for a mutually agreed departure.
Outside the Office
Outside of work, has a keen interest in music and sport, and is a Leeds United fan (for his sins).
